Muhammad Ali – ‘Cassius’ – 2.3 metres width x 1.8 metres height x 9 cm depth. Imported Italian ‘Maimeri’ acrylic paint on 340 gsm canvas.
Painting of the iconic pose of Muhammad Ali, known at the time as Cassius Clay, upon winning the gold medal at the 1960 Rome Olympics. It was the light heavyweight class division. Ali would go on to become the first and only three-time lineal World Heavyweight Champion. The pose is brilliantly inspirational and one of the most energetic photographs that I have ever seen. The detail on this painting gave it an almost print quality.
